Tirupathur had been reigned by many kings and it was named as Bramapuram ’Thiruporur’ ‘Thiruvanapuram’ and it is further noted from a historical research that the Vijayanagara kings who ruled during the 14th century had renamed Thiruvanapuram as ‘Tirupathur’. Tirupathur is surrounded by two major mountain ranges namely the ‘Javadhu Hills and Yelagiri Hills.
The Javadhu Hills is bestowed with beautiful water falls, streamlets and forest range that attracts the eyesight of the beholder. The hills connects the tourists with two major attraction points with one being “Beema Falls’ and the other “Amirthi biological park” “Cheyar “ “Arani River” Kamandala Naganadhi River, ”Miruganda River” are the water falls that originates from “Javadhu hills”.
Most of the inhabitants of this hills belong to “Malayali Tribes”. Agriculture is their major occupation. The hill is known for its wonderful sandal wood cultivation. Hence Asia’s second Sandalwood godown is constructed in Tirupathur.It is praised as city of sandalwood as it possesses the Javadhu hills and the second largest sandal godown beside it.
